0:00Welcome everyone and this is the first presentation in the emotional series and in this presentation there are three parts. Part one is the levels of consciousness. Part two is emotional categories and part three is called passing the pain. But just before we commence this presentation I want us to do a one minute centering exercise. So spine straight, head
0:38erect, eyes gently closed and absolutely perfectly still and take in a long deep breath through the nose and sigh it out through the mouth. Now take two long slow breaths in and out through your nose and bring your attention back to the screen. Welcome everyone and this presentation is about emotions and emotions are a very important topic and before I speak about them in detail I want
1:54to put them into context with the other ways of working on yourself and how they all fit in together. I call these ways of working levels of consciousness. I've discussed these levels of consciousness in greater detail in another presentation but basically it's thinking you know how can I improve myself how can I heal myself and there's four different ways of looking at it and I call these
2:28levels of consciousness and they work from the top down and it's the first one is spiritual and it's like awareness being awake, being observant, having presence meaning being here, being in this moment. The next way is mental it's all about the mind thinking, planning, problem solving, evaluation, attitude, things like that. Emotional is feeling, empathy, emotional intelligence, sensitivity to
3:05other people's feelings and then physical is body orientated. It's your health, your physical fitness, it's pain, it's pleasure, it's how you physically present and carry yourself around in the world. And so with the four levels of consciousness as I mentioned before they're working from the top down it's like the spiritual, the effects, the next level down and they can each be
3:39in balance or out of balance. With spiritual you can if it's out of balance of separation when it's in balance you feel connected. With mental you're unconscious which means you don't remember you've forgotten and when it's in balance you're conscious you're remembering you're aware and then emotional is when it's disconnected and seriously disconnected it's called disassociation which is a
4:06split from your ability to actually feel and when you're connected you're able to feel your sensitive you have a high level of emotional intelligence and physical is you're carrying a lot of tension a lot of disease, physical, physical ailments and when it's in balance you're feeling very relaxed, healthy and you may or may not be fit but you don't necessarily need to be fit to have the physical
4:36imbalance you just feel very relaxed and comfortable in your body. And so when we look at this we're looking at emotions are a level between the thinking and a level between the physical and emotions are a very big subject and because they are such a big subject I'm covering them in two presentations and for me emotions have been the most difficult area of my life they're the ones that have had the
5:09greatest challenge and yes I've been introduced to the idea of positive thinking working on negative beliefs negative thoughts but it's been difficult once I've understood that to actually put it into practice and the reason why it's difficult to put these new ideas into practice is because you have to bring your feeling state your emotions with you and the emotions are the key the
5:39emotions are your Achilles heel and your emotions are where people become addicted and emotions definitely are the key to behavior you know you may know that you shouldn't be getting frustrated or annoyed by someone's behavior but often you can't help yourself and next thing you know you're reacting in a way that you wish you hadn't reacted or hadn't intended to react it's because
6:06of the emotional programming and these emotions are singly the most challenging thing you can come to terms with because emotions don't feel good when they're out of balance when they're in balance wow it's fabulous it's amazing but it's most of the time when there's an issue it's because they're out of balance and in this next section I want to explain the different emotional
6:38categories and for more than 40 years of working with thousands of people I've been able to distill emotions into three categories they are fear anger and grief and I use the mnemonic of fag and in the category fear it ranges from anxiety to panic and on the Hawkins scale of consciousness it comes in at 100 and anything less than 200 is self destructive so fear if it's unresolved
7:16and it continues for long periods of time is actually an extremely unresourced full emotion obviously there are situations where to be afraid is appropriate if you are really physically threatened and someone is is is mugging you and putting a knife to your throat and wants to take your wallet or purse then to feel anxious and afraid in that circumstance would be appropriate because
7:46this is a self-provivation mechanism to have you in a heightened state of alertness to be able to do something whereas the majority of fear that we experience is really an imagined fear we someone is saying no to us we didn't achieve our expectations we think we've made a mistake we've made you know there's been a sense of miscommunication or misunderstanding and so we get this
8:20anxiety that's coming up and it's part of our flight fight syndrome that sits there to protect us but it's being activated for situations that are just not it's not really required and the psychology behind fear is that it's all about survival it's it's the belief real or imagined that we're under threat it can be in one or more combinations of these four different ways
8:59you can imagine you know you can think that you're in physical danger that there's something threatening me and sometimes that is real there is physical danger but often it can be imagined you know I hear loud noises outside in the night and I think someone's going to break in I can see someone looking in a threatening way and I feel threatened there can be emotional danger a sense of
9:27someone saying no to me or they're talking to me in a very loud aggressive way it can be mental it's where I'm going into self criticism I've got a whole negative critic running in my mind about I'm not okay I should have done this better it wasn't all right or someone else is saying that to me and I'm now feeling in danger and my whole limbic system clicks in and my fight flight response starts
9:56to occur and I'm thinking wow I'm in some sort of danger and then there can be a spiritual sense to fear it's this idea of abandonment I'm alone you know alone this fundamentally is the single greatest issue that anyone has to deal with but it's often hidden under so many other layers issue that takes a while before we begin to recognise it but the way to resolve fear is to face it
10:32and what I've found is that fear is the most difficult of all the emotions to deal with one because it hurts and two because most people are spent a lifetime blocking it and then they don't fully recognise it when it's first occurring and if they do recognise it then they're doing everything to avoid it and so when it's fully active tends to be overwhelming and it creates this
11:03self justifying belief that I've got to do everything to keep myself away from fear but in order to resolve fear you need to face fear you need to be looking at it and what's required is a strategy and firstly well firstly you have to acknowledge that the fears are occurring and secondly you need a strategy for dealing with it it's like how do you eat an elephant well I don't want
11:34to eat an elephant I'm a vegetarian but if I had to eat an elephant it would be one slice one mouthful at a time the same with fear how do I deal with fear if I'm suddenly confronted with all of that fear in one go it's too overwhelming something give me shuts down but if I begin to look at it and I stay present with my anxiety present means I allow myself to feel it but when I'm allowing
12:03myself to feel my anxiety the trick is I'm not doing that in public with other people because that can be too confronting I'm allowing myself to feel it in the privacy of my own home and usually when that anxiety starts to rise it tends to be in the evening when you're feeling quiet and you're on your own and that's when you feel like I want a distraction I'd like a drink
12:29I'd like to have something sweet to eat I want to watch television or do something so that I'm not here with myself but if you're able to stay present and one of the best ways to do that would be to go into your bedroom lie on the bed and don't have a pillow under you and just lie flat on the the bed covers and allow that feeling of anxiety to be there and fear where are you experiencing it
13:01usually when I feel anxiety it's in the solar plexus area and so I'll go there lie down and spend five or ten minutes just feeling it and within about ten minutes it just subsides and once subsided I can get up go out and continue again so feeling your fear is a significant thing it can also come up when you're doing something there may be this sense of oh look I don't feel
13:29confident to stand up in public and speak and to me that would be a challenge you need to think of it I've got to get past the fear of standing up and speaking I don't need to be an eloquent speaker and whether I speak well or not is immaterial what is important here is that I'm overcoming fear so I can use the experience of standing up in a group and speaking to them as a way of dealing with
13:58my fear I could go and do skydiving and jump out of a plane and use that as an experience in dealing with my fear I could do something I work out a gym confront someone talk to someone that I would normally find difficult to talk to it doesn't matter what you're doing it's just that you are confronting these emotional limitations and if you don't confront the the emotional limitations
14:31in some way in hopefully an elegant and a measured way then in time your confidence in being able to deal with things diminishes and this thing out there becomes bigger than you and so you need to keep looking at it keep facing it and keep moving towards it and it doesn't have to resolve itself in one experience you know it can take months it can take several years to overcome an anxiety
15:07around something for me to feel confident enough to stand in front of a group and speak eloquently took me at least five years you know I had massive insecurity lots of stuff running in my head and it was just approaching it approaching it and going for it and so my single greatest quality is my ability to keep going for it and so the same for you I would support you to keep
15:38going for it at the level it's okay for you so just keep pushing the next emotional category is anger and it ranges from self-hate to rage and self-hate can include guilt and shame and this is when the energy the anger is turned in onto yourself but usually anger is projected out onto other people or onto life circumstances it can be when you fail to get a sale and then get very frustrated it can be
16:24someone's broken into your car and stolen your laptop you know you're furious how dare they or you're upset with your partner he or she is just not listening to you again it can be things like I'm upset with my parents as they keep pressuring me to go over to their place for lunch every second Sunday I think it's too much I was very blessed my parents never did that to me but
16:53anger is a big deal and the psychology of anger is it's all about an attempt to re-empower oneself it's like I've lost my sense of self so if we understand what power is power is the ability to maintain my position in space power is the ability to hold my reality in the situation I find myself power is the ability to be me to be authentic to be real to be myself it requires me to know what
17:34I want and to be able to ask for it to go there and deal with it so in order to be authentic in order to be real we needed as children a considerable amount of external validation so that's your mother and your father saying well done I believe in you you're really great you're fantastic you can do it and that will start to build this sense of self-validating we call it solid core
18:11self-identity so this is part of me in spite of the circumstances out there not working to my expectations or in spite of the circumstances being against me I'm still able to hold myself strong and it's in part an inherited thing and it's part a behavioral biographical thing to do with how your childhood was and how you went through the school experience and how you related to your
18:47friends but this power is fundamentally me being myself and when I get angry it's as though I've lost something they haven't heard me I haven't achieved something I can't get what I want and so I'm then in this place of frustration so it's not my body memory it's my psyche attempting to energize me to achieve something that I think I failed to achieve or didn't receive or wasn't heard
19:29in some way if I'm fully integrated and I'm not placing my sense of self outside of myself and requiring external validation then they can say those things I may or may not agree with them but something within me stays okay I'm all right okay the sale didn't go through all right I'll get the next one okay my mum and dad want me to go over there you know that's what they want they
19:58feel like they're not getting enough tension or they're missing me but I don't have to go through a whole story around that and they can say whatever they want and thank you very much for the invitation and no thanks but I will come over maybe a week or two later when it works or if my partner hasn't understood what I've said or isn't listening I don't have to interpret that as something
20:20wrong with them or something wrong with me it's just the way she is explaining things it's the way I've interpreted something big deal no big deal no big deal it is what it is so anger is fundamentally something out of balance around my sense of power the next emotion is grief and grief again is category it ranges from sadness to depression it sits at the level of 75 this assumes that the
20:59person is cycling in and out of their sadness and as I mentioned earlier anything under the the level of 200 according to the Hawkins scale of consciousness is a negative thing and over time it will have a negative consequence the person's life force diminishes they start to shut down there's a great deal of self pity and they become less resourceful so usually if people are continuing this
21:32this experience of sadness it is a negative experience but there are situations where we're sadness is positive and when it's a spontaneous outpouring of emotion for instance at my father's funeral my mother threw herself over my father's coffin and let out an arm all mighty whale it must have lasted for about two minutes but afterwards we all felt better my mother released
22:02emotional tension we were all feeling and my mother had come from a small Greek village she grew up in the 20s 1920s 1930s and this was a tradition that widows would do around their the death of their husbands and so my mother did it and it was like whoosh what a letting go and when I calibrate that emotional experience it comes in at 320 it was a healthy emotional response it
22:38wasn't that my mother afterwards went away feeling morose and down and kept going around in the head you know I've lost my husband I've lost my husband why was me it wasn't yes there's sadness I felt sad I connected to that sadness and in that moment that sadness was released and so if the emotion is spontaneous and in that moment and fully experienced it can be a healthy response if
23:05that emotion comes up and it just keeps going round and round you continue to feel sad and you continue to think about a loss so we continue to feel angry about some hurt or insult or whatever took place then that's an extremely unhealthy response and the psychology of grief is a feeling of loss it's the belief that we have lost something it could be a sense of loss losing love I've
23:39lost a loved one I love one has died a relationship has broken up it could be the loss of material possessions something's been stolen a house has burnt down it could be the loss of an opportunity I've lost the sale I've missed out on a job or a promotion the loss comes about because I've identified with that situation I've identified with that person that person that situation represents
24:09a part of me because that's not in my life then something in my life is less than and this is a limitation this is an addiction yes if someone passes in our life there is a moment of the sadness coming up and it's appropriate to express it and it's gone and usually a few weeks a couple of months and then we move on if I'm continuing to go through it and we're talking
24:39about the passing of someone two years later absolutely it's a psychological issue absolutely just stuck somewhere and there's an important understanding that needs to occur and a letting go a change of belief and moving beyond that feeling and so it's this attachment to the belief that that personal thing is part of my happiness the energy of the emotion is real and it does need to be
25:11expressed in some way and I'll explain more about that later in the presentation but I'm going to know how to move on from it and as well as emotions which are reactions from incompletions in my life in my psychology in my ego and identifying myself with situations and events and and seeing these who I am is only my physical body there are also three other bodily experiences which I call
25:47three feeling states which are the expressions of my being they're not to do with an incompletion something that's needs resolution but they're to do with an expression of the progress of my consciousness the progress of my awareness it's to do with me becoming more and these three feeling states the first one is love and it resonates at 500 in David Hawkins scale and all these
26:26things come from the book power versus force a brilliant book highly recommended he explains the levels of consciousness in great detail and he presents you know I believe this is a an essential reading for people who are looking to understand themselves and understand other people better but to quote David Hawkins his description of love he says it's a way of relating to the world which is
27:06forgiving nurturing and supportive love is not intellectual and it does not proceed from the mind love emanates from the heart it has the capacity to lift others and accomplish great feats because of the purity of its motive I believe the majority of people watching this present presentation you resonate at 500 you know love is a major part of who you are and
27:48when I'm calculating the scales of consciousness for people who come to see me I'm really looking at what is the highest level that that person is resonating what is the level they're at when they're free from the triggering of the fear anger grief response and when I work with people I see that love is an easier natural state for them and I believe love is an easier natural state for you
28:23and I don't agree with the thought that you are as strong as your weakest link I think that's wrong you are as strong as your strongest link and I believe it's important to learn to always identify with the best part of yourself and yes something didn't work yes I felt vulnerable yes I'm out of control sometimes but that's not who I am it's not who you are you are far greater than that and
28:59where you place your attention is the thing that magnifies and grows and develops and so your love state I believe is real and this is your this is a part of you and it exists a small percentage of the time and it can exist a significant percentage of the time in your life the next state in these feeling states is joy and joy resonates at the scale of 540 remember that anything above
29:39200 is positive and that every step in that scale of consciousness increases by a logarithmic increases by 10 times it goes so 200 to 300 is not 100 more it's a thousand more and so to quote David Hawkins about joy he says as love becomes more and more unconditional it begins to be experienced as inner joy this is not the sudden joy of a pleasurable turn of events it is a
30:21constant accompaniment to all activities joy arises from when within each moment of existence rather than from any outer source it's my belief that it's a blessing and a joy to be here you know this human experience this very moment that we sit here this very moment that we connect to each other is a blessing and a joy the third feeling state is peace and peace resonates at 600
31:11and to quote David Hawkins again be purely because he says it so well this state is associated with the experience designated by such terms as transcendence and self-realization when the state is reached the distinction between subject and object disappears it's not uncommon for individuals at this level to remove themselves from society
31:46as the state of bliss that ensures precludes ordinary activity some become spiritual teachers others work anonymously for the betterment of humankind and a few become great geniuses in their respective fields and make major contributions to society to explain what David Hawkins means when he says subject and object disappears
32:18it's when a person in this state no longer sees people and circumstances are being as being separate from them for example when I hear about conflict in the Middle East and people are being bombed in Syria this is not these people over there this is us being bombed a part of us is being bombed when the Great Barrier Reef is being degraded this is not some environmental catastrophe occurring
32:52thousands of kilometers away this is part of our home under pressure and so when people are at 600 they see this object subject thing it's like it's part of us it's part of who we are the part the state of peace is also being called a peak experience in the next piece I want to explain how the emotions play out in most people's lives I call this section passing the
33:27pain and in this section passing the pain it's really recognizing that most of the emotions we presently experience have a greater history than just the biography of our life and our childhood and to quote from Gandhi if one generation of humanity fully felt its pain all of humanity would be free forever and it's his understanding that the pain that we don't resolve now doesn't suddenly
34:08disappear it actually is passed on to the next generation and the pain that the previous generation failed to experience has been passed on to us and the previous generations the pain before that generation was passed on to them so we have this stack of pain that has come from hundreds of generations and the majority of our pain is inherited and it sits like a pre-programming in the
34:40cellular structure of our body in the DNA in the tension and it's passed through to us from our parents and our grandparents and our great grandparents they are not the cause of it they have not failed in any way they are just the conduit by which what they couldn't deal with was passed on to the next generation and it continues to keep getting passed on to each subsequent generation but
35:10hopefully each generation as it comes through becomes more resourceful more aware is given greater opportunities and we now are at this stage in our evolutionary development where the buck stops here it's time for us to figure it out it's time for us to deal with our own emotional limitations without making it wrong without seeing that as a punishment, a negative thing occurs, a burden it is
35:47what it is I may not like it but it is what it is and I'm just going to do what I can and it's not available all the time I can't be working on my issues all the time the best way to work on these things is on and as needs basis when something's not working that's when I need to look at what's going on and make a focused effort if things are okay have a holiday forget about it
36:18you don't want to be going down the well to clean the well all the time you want to be living up the top in the light we only go down into the well to clean it because we need to and that's only on occasion and so you work through it with the patterns that are passed onto us for most people mother is the greatest influence again not because mother is limited in any way or she failed or
36:51that she didn't care it's purely a biological reason we spent nine months in her womb and for most people mother was the primary caregiver and because mother was the major influence in our life during the most significant developmental stages of our life in the womb the first 12 months the second 12 months and so on therefore whatever sits in mother psyche is more likely to be transferred
37:24it's purely a biological function and purely a function of who do you spend the most time with in those important developmental stages of your life and then and then in order to manage this great massive inherited emotional mess pain we manipulate the experience of emotion pain in four different ways one it gets suppressed two it's projected onto other people three it's
37:56three channel we call transmuted and fourth it's picked up by someone else and it becomes transference because emotions are uncomfortable are usually uncomfortable and painful and in the first instance of experience them experiencing them are too much to deal with we become disconnected from them we suppress them we're also being trained don't cry you know don't get
38:25angry be good whatever that means and we then are being given a lot of messages to not be spontaneous with our feeling state to hold it back again nothing wrong with mum and dad they're doing they're absolute best it's just the way they were taught and they think they're supporting you and this is making you someone who can adapt better in society yes there does need to be guidance
38:58and boundaries placed on children regarding their behavior and what occurs but there also needs to be opportunities and times and recognition that this spontaneous behavior needs expression and so it's a balancing act and finding the right place is a journey of you know understanding yourself and so suppressing the emotions is a very common way of dealing with our emotions and if it becomes
39:29chronic we call it disassociation and disassociation is that I have become so habituated to holding back my feelings that I lose the capacity to feel my feelings or certain elements of my feelings anymore and all of this can be resolved but it's just another layer to work with and it's just a bit more work the next way in which emotions are manipulated is called projection and
40:05it occurs in two ways one you blame the other person it's blame you see the other person as the cause of your upset or two I see in another what is in me I think they're angry because I'm angry it's like the policeman who is always looking for the criminal because they've been conditioned to people behaving in a bad way or the lawyer who's looking for the trick or the con in the contract
40:40that he has to read through and so after a while he starts to become conditioned to looking for cons and so we can then with projection we make the other person responsible you know in the slide here you scare me you've hurt my feelings and so on I'm blaming the other person or you know because that person didn't smile maybe they're rejecting me it's got nothing to do with me it's just that
41:09I'm rejecting myself or I'm rejecting them or I think they're annoyed with me and I'm annoyed I may not be annoyed with them but I'm just feeling annoyed the next way in which emotions are manipulated is it's called transmuted it's when someone feels one emotion and expresses another you see if you understand emotions you can see that emotions can be thought as a form of energy emotions
41:44are a form of energy in fact they're a form of chemical energy and if we're going to explain how emotions work I could compare it to electricity but emotions are not electricity I'm just comparing how electricity can work and the thing for example with electricity depending on what device is plugged into the power socket that electricity can be converted into light to heat or to motion and so if I
42:23plug a lamp into the power socket we have light if I plug a radiator into the power socket we have heat and if I plug a fan into the power socket we have motion so emotions can behave like energy depending on the channel they're directed into they will have a different effect so transmuted emotions means that one person can feel a certain emotion and yet express another
43:01an example of that is men if they're being conditioned to be masculine and strong however they've chosen to interpret that and that sadness is a sign of weakness it can be that a man can feel sadness but because it's not an acceptable emotion it comes out as anger so they've transmuted the sadness to anger and by the other hand women can transmute their anger into sadness or
43:35helplessness because they've been conditioned told to it that being angry is unlady like and so they transmute that emotion into something that is more socially acceptable so transmuting emotions is very much to do with cultural conditioning and it can sometimes be with the way you were programmed growing up but it's a very much more a socially conditioned thing the
44:14next way in which emotions manipulated is called transference this is when the emotion is expressed by someone else for example this is quite common with children and pets an example is when the mother and father and family have a lot of unexpressed anger towards each other and one of their children starts to misbehave and become aggressive at school or with pets the unexpressed emotion
44:45of their owner comes out as the dog developing some sort of illness it's like the energy in the environment becomes too much and the system overloads the fuse in the electrical wiring trips the most emotionally sensitive person in that household displays the unexpected emotion either as emotion or as physical symptoms as a and in my practice I had a woman come to see me
45:19after the breakdown of her third marriage and the typical scenario would be she would marry a gentle sensitive man who would after a few years turn into an angry unreasonable man and eventually the relationship would end so after the third relationship she thought she needed help in being able to pick a better man and after I did her personality profile it became obvious she had a lot of
45:48unresolved issues with her father her father had was an angry violent man and while growing up as a child she saw how her father's anger wounded her mother and made everyone in the family unhappy so as a young child she resolved to never be like her father she never expressed her frustration or anger she would choose gentle men but after being with her for several years and she was not expressing
46:21it became so upsetting for them until they could no longer contain their own upset around her suppressed upset and so it's common for people to relate to you according to your subconscious persona and so we say in a poetic way the inside of me is the outside of you so the things that in the unconscious of me for people who I'm intimately connected to we will start to play a game
46:54and in turn I will start to express some of the subconscious issues in my partner in my partner will start to express some of the unconscious issues with me if I'm unconscious about it if I'm unaware of it and if I'm not choosing to moderate those so how do we manage these emotions and again the managing of the emotions can occur in wonderful ways spiritual mental emotional and physical if we
47:29look at managing the emotions spiritually then it's going to be a little bit impractical not impractical just a bit more difficult some ways are easier than others spirituals a bit too far away you might sit there and meditate you've got all this emotion and it may work some people very few maybe two or three out of a hundred could do that because as soon as you begin to meditate and
47:59you're full of all this emotion the first thing that happens is your mind just goes round around and around and circles you can't meditate you can't focus you can't drill down to get into it it's too difficult it is possible theoretically but in practice it's too difficult the other way is sitting there analyzing it working it out you can do journaling right down my feelings what
48:24do I feelings mean need and you can start to work through that the danger with that working it out mentally is that you can get too much caught up in your analysis and the more you start to see the reasons why you should be feeling these feelings or why you are feeling these feelings the more justification is for that feeling and if you're not careful you can get into a mental loop we call
48:50it analysis paralysis so there's a bit of a trap with mentally analyzing it it does work it works for a slightly larger percentage of people than trying to meditate you away through it but you need some guidance in this and if you have some experience in understanding how to look at feelings and what's going on I have a technique called dysfunctional patent clearing that I employ that
49:21can enable people to look at how their emotions where they come from and how they stuck and what the pattern is but it does require some training some experience some people have a natural propensity and this most people don't the third way is to work with your emotions through feeling it expressing it yes if this is a spontaneous response there are techniques for expressing
49:50your emotions and really dropping deep down into that and it can be quite effective but again and I would say there's probably a little bit more effective than the other ways of spiritual and mental but the best way I think for dealing with your emotions is go physical and it's the best way to move the emotions and so you want to stay physical with moving your
50:22emotions I'm going to describe in the next slide ways in which you can move your emotions physically but understand also even though there are four different ways in which you can work on an issue even if one way is initially successful over time diminishing returns set in so I can use a physical thing I go to the gym and I work out really hard and then afterwards I feel better but after a
50:49time I go to the gym and I work out really hard and I'm not feeling so much better and I'm really doing it and it's not giving me the sort of results I was getting initially or I can well because what's occurring is I've shifted some of the kept the body chemistry and I've channeled some of the energy but I'm not really coming to terms with the true cause of why this
51:16emotion is there and I need to kind of understand it they may need a cognitive mental approach or it now needs for me to express it so what often occurs is that a physical approach to dealing with emotional charge works for a short period of time and then I need to change my technique and go into it emotionally and then I can go into it mentally and then I may need to come back into
51:44it physically again so my approach with this when people come to see me is to usually go at it in two ways simultaneously both emotionally and mentally and then to suggest a course of physical activity and then depending on their journey we may go into a spiritual understanding about it but it's too easy to mix levels and you do need to stay grounded and physical with these things
52:15so with the next slide I call the emotional well-being and this is like looking at some just very simple basic strategies in the next presentation emotional emotions too it's called addicted to the chemistry of your body emotions number two addicted to the chemistry of your body I'll give you further strategies but for now if you're in a situation where you're feeling there's a whole lot
52:42of emotion in your life then physical exercise it's like you can't be there depending on your physical fitness jogging running it's a great thing get the breath going or if you're not so physically fit then power walking and the best power walking is walking up hills and you know really work with your walking really work it so that you're breathing hard and you're just
53:08spending a bit of effort it can't be just a nice casual stroll you need to move the metabolism get the blood going and I bet we'll move the endorphins and the whole body chemistry and it will start to bring you back to a state of harmony or swimming swimming is fabulous jump in the water particularly in ocean if you can't do the ocean go to the swing pool the singing and in a choir and something
53:41songs that are really uplifting singing is got to be one of the best best ways to release emotions but not all of us are singers I'm not a singer you know I would love to be part of a choir I would love to sing but unfortunately I haven't developed my singing voice and so for me the great way for me to process my emotions is to get in the bath and I would spend 30 to 40 minutes in a bath
54:12and whatever emotion and issue I had would just process it I can remember one period of my life I spent two years of almost being in the bath three or four times a week and over those two years I came to terms with a huge lot of stress that I inherited from my childhood and so being in the bath has got to be one of the most amazing ways but again the problem is a lot of people don't have
54:44baths and you know painting drawing if you have that talent then go into painting going to drawing and choose a subject of you know I'm now drawing my anger I'm drawing my sadness I'm drawing my fear what happens and then after you've drawn it you may leave it for a few days and then if you're still feeling drawn again and then when you feel as though you've kind of it's subsided a bit
55:11you may choose to burn that painting or drawing depending on whether you you know if you want to keep it as a memento of your journey great but if you have it's achieved the purpose of moving some of the emotion then by all means burn it but the key with working with emotions and emotional well being is making lots of little changes over a long period of time a long period of time means
55:44six to twelve months and it's like rather than all out when bam thank you man it's more to do with just go for the power walk have the bath spend time drawing or swimming whatever but do it regularly and ideally three times a week and if you do that over a period of several months it creates a habit it starts to change the underlying psychology so emotions are a big deal and thank you for listening
56:25and I'd like to thank the people who have helped make this possible radion for marketing production and web design and error and for camera lights and post production thank you for those people for their support and to remind you keep breathing through your nose brings you into present time gives you your perspective on everything it's all going to be okay it's all going to be okay
57:06the most important thing is maintaining your composure and your sense of brightness of future so blessing in the joy thank you
