0:01Hello everyone. Welcome. This is the fourth presentation in the psychological series and in this part in this presentation I have three parts. I'll be talking about disassociation the second is levels of consciousness and the third part is emotional will being and
0:25as we normally do we have a bit of housekeeping and and if you haven't already done so please turn off your phone have a note for pen available a glass of water if you need it and we hope to finish by eight o'clock and so it's between seven and eight and if I can have your attention
0:45you now have about one minute. I'm about to do a centering meditation so if you don't have those things now is your time to go and get them and and let's start with the meditation so
1:03spine straight, head erect, eyes gently close and take your awareness to the sounds around you the sounds outside of the room traffic of the people in the other sounds and take your awareness to the sounds inside the room, the air conditioning of the people
2:27sound of my voice and the sound of your breath and just feel your buttocks making contact with the surface beneath you and breathing only in and out through the nose take two really long slow breaths through the nose and return your attention to the screen and
3:25the first part of tonight's presentation is disassociation and the best way I can explain disassociation is by recounting an event that took place in my life quite a number of years ago. I was coming back from Christmas holidays and
3:44my wife at the time and I were traveling back. We were driving back. We'd gone to visit her mother on the Gold Coast and I was just I don't know, 50-60 kilometers north of Coss Harbor and there was a long straight stretch of highway and in front of me was a semi trailer going quite slowly so I thought I'll just speed up and overtake
4:12and so I sped and overtaped to the large truck and just kept driving and I kept going at quite a far speed and coming in the opposite direction which I didn't notice until he got right up to me was a police car and he caught me on his radar and I was speeding so he put his lights on, called me, over stopped and got out and walked up to the drivers window and said,
4:40are you aware you were speeding? You know, I said I was overtaking a truck back there and I didn't realise I just kept driving and he said, well nevertheless you were speeding and I have to issue you a ticket so I handed him the license he gave me the ticket and I got back in the car, well I was sitting in the car, I just got back together again and started driving and I thought to myself
5:04you know I'm a big man I can take it on the chin it's only a fine, I'll pay the fine it's no big deal and I'm driving along and it's been a pretty uneventful drive with my wife at the time to several hours and at her feet on the floor there on the passenger side were two bottles of ginger beer and one of those was mine and I said could you pass me my bottle of ginger beer and she was so slow she went
5:36took all this time to go down and get the bottle of ginger beer and then unscrew the top and instead of passing it to me and you know I'm the important person in the car because I'm driving she took a big squeak of my late ginger beer, well I was annoyed with that and I said drink your energy in your beer, don't drink my energy beer and she wouldn't put up with this nonsense
5:59from me and we got into an argument and because we're so strong will this argument been for I don't know 30-40 minutes and then finally we exhausted ourselves and I'm driving and I'm thinking this is mad what happened why was I so upset and irrational about this drink I could have stopped at anyone of half a dozen service stations along the way and bought another drink we could have had
6:26a dozen bottles of drink but you know here I am I'm irritated what's going on and as I'm driving I started to sink and I had a flashback I remembered an incident when I was 13 years of age it was my first year of high school and I'm walking down the corridor I'm wearing my gray shirt and black and red striped tie and gray trousers and coming in the opposite direction is a
6:57prefect and my tie is you know all over the place and my shirt is disheveled and the prefect came up and said fix that tie up and tuck your shirt back in and he was quite aggressive and I felt afraid that he would punch me or something and so I put the tie together I tuck my shirt in and I was furious but I did not say anything because if I did I'd most likely get a beaking
7:28and I walked away but I had suppressed I pushed down that anger and what I realized was that the policeman represented the prefect at school and this was you know this repressed anger that had been sitting there but I didn't feel angry at the time I was dealing with the policeman in fact I felt quite calm and very rational and I thought you know I handled it really well there were no problems with it
7:59yet when I came and sat down I was fuming but I didn't know that I was angry until that incident with my ex-wife and I'd ever been drinking that and that was like what's going on so how come I didn't realize that and this is disassociation this is where a part of me separates from an experience because it can't emotionally deal with it and so this is how we shut ourselves down disassociation is
8:36directly linked to emotional intelligence and emotional intelligence is your sensitivity to your own feelings and there was a time when I was so disconnected from my feelings I didn't know I was angry until I started to crave certain foods for example if I was really angry I'd want a hot fried potato chips or pizzas with lots of cheese and if I had a lot of sadness going on I would
9:16I would be craving for chocolates and sweets and the fatty things are suppressing the liver seat of anger and the sweet things are all about the pancreas which is digesting insulin and this is about sweetness and so it was only through my food cranes that I learned that I had a whole lot of feeling going on that I was disconnected from and so disassociation is extremely important
9:49because it's the mechanism by which we're controlled because we lose connection with our own internal knowing so if someone tells me something and I don't have an internal connection I'm relying on the information the rationality the logic of the argument to convince me one way or another but my internal guidance system has been switched off it's been switched off because I have too many
10:26unresolved emotions from my past and so I can't ultimately trust my own feelings disassociation is also linked to addiction because addiction fundamentally is a suppression of feelings and addiction occurs in two ways a substance addiction where I'm ingesting something I'm taking drugs I'm eating food I'm having coffee sugar I'm smoking illicit drugs medication prescription
11:01they're all to do with suppressing the feelings and so the more disassociative I am the more repressed my feelings are and they're so easily triggered with events around me and so in order to stay balanced in some way I have to keep pushing them down and I'm pushing them down through substance or process and process addiction is when I'm compulsive in my behavior an example could be
11:33a become a gym junkie I'm working too long too hard I have an sexual addiction there's numerous process addictions and so this compulsive behavior or there's need to eat other two factors that keep pushing down that repressed emotion and the idea is for us to reconnect and in the kingdom of your awareness we say that the king is your rational thought and the queen is your emotional
12:07sensitivity and if the your awareness and the kingdom of your psyche is in harmony the king and the seed equally on the throne if the queen goes away then the king is involved in business and warfare if the king's gone then the queen is there shopping and partying and neither really work we need both our rational mind and this balanced emotional sensitivity and this disassociation when it took place
12:40as a child was the psyche's natural protection defense mechanism the way to explain it would be to think of a caterpillar from the perspective of a caterpillar the cocoon is a necessary protection it's protecting that pewper that immature caterpillar from harm's way from the environment but the problem is your no longer a caterpillar you are a butterfly and from the perspective of
13:13the butterfly the cocoon is a coffin so the very strategy as a child to disconnect from feelings you couldn't deal with which were absolutely necessary for your survival because if you hadn't disconnected it would have been too overwhelming you would have had an accident you would have come down with some disease you could have potentially died so it's necessary when you can't deal with
13:43a situation like that to separate yourself from it and that's what disassociation does and if we have a very loving supportive protective environment then the degree of disassociation is quite mild but if we're in an environment that's extremely painful and difficult growing up as a child then we start to shut out our emotions down or even if it wasn't directly inflicted on us but we
14:14were in the presence of our parents going through a lot of stress then that can have the effect of shutting us down as well and so we've had a lot of pain from the past and most of it inherited and so a great deal of us is disconnected and so reconnecting is significant because then you'll have your own internal guidance system then you will become the power in your own life because your
14:49own instincts will be operating effectively but your internal guidance system your internal instincts don't operate effectively because you also emotionally shut down and because of that emotional shutdown that's history comes from the new childhood you've only got the king to work out the situation in your life that's your rational mind whereas the queen is important as
15:22well and that is your emotional sensitivity and your emotional intelligence and ultimately your connection with existence around you is a very powerful subjective experience and that is based on your feeling function on your emotions to great extent I will define feelings and emotions in greater detail in a moment so that's disassociation the second thing I want to talk about is levels of
15:56consciousness and there are four levels of consciousness and they work from the top down and the first level of consciousness we call spiritual and spiritual is your awareness it's you being able to be present in this moment and aware and so the big challenge that we face is our ego mind personality I use those three words together meaning the same thing your ego your mind and your personality
16:31is the conditioned awareness and the majority of this conditioned awareness has been inherited your challenge is to rise above this conditioned awareness and to be able to be present free of a conditioned awareness so this your spiritual self is this unconditioned awareness and then when you go into the next level of consciousness we call it mental and this is the part of you that works
17:03with your mind your ego or your personality and it's all about planning problem solving evaluating and it's where you have an attitude there's advantages in that having a mind enables you to navigate through life but ultimately to find your place and your sense of personal power this mind has to be put over to one side and seen as a tool but what has occurred because of the nature of our life
17:38and we're constantly being bombarded with stimuli and we've been given information all the time and we've been trained to think and process we're addicted to this mental processing and we're still we have identified ourselves with this mental processing to represent us we think our mind is us and it is not us our mind is a mechanism for planning problem solving evaluating and
18:10making decisions that has a place and then it needs to be switched off and then needs to be a sense of presence or being which means to just be here in the moment and feel it and something else transcends because when you enter into the spiritual connection you connect to what I call the mainframe you have the capacity to intuit information outside of your level of experience and the
18:51information network you can connect to is in effect infinite and when we're working with the mental we're working within a preconceived frame of reference that unfortunately has a lot of very limiting beliefs in particular about ourselves this is the mental the second one is emotional and emotional is the feeling compassion emotional intelligence you know if it's all working
19:26we're connecting to our feelings and the third one fourth one is physical and the physical is the body and the body primarily is about pleasure and pain so it's about how am I experiencing pleasure in my body am I able to experience pleasure in my body can I surrender and feel pleasure you would imagine that is the most natural easiest thing in the world to do but through a lifetime of
19:55conditioning and reducing ourselves and separating ourselves we start to lose connection with that and pain then becomes a normal element of who we are so the body is really about pain and pleasure and then the levels of consciousness work from spirit energetic to mental processing to emotional chemical to physical you know structural and it's working down when these are our balance it always
20:28starts at the top the first one is separation we have this sense of being disconnected from things around us we're disconnected from the very physical environment the the seasons the the days the nights the weather things like that we're in now little cocoons of the environment that's protecting us from out there and we're disconnected from each other and often disconnected from society
21:00of large and family and all these sort of things and ultimately disconnected from this essence that is a major part of where we are with this connection the next level occurs which is called unconscious and unconscious is that we forget the forgetting mechanism is again a defense mechanism a survival mechanism because if we didn't forget the experience of separation the experience of pain
21:33would be constantly there and we just couldn't cope and it would probably send most people mad and so the forgetting process is in the central part of staying reasonably contained and reasonably sane in the moment but ultimately if it's not dealt with this unconscious will be the very cause of the ailment that kills you and so the unconscious like the disassociation
22:04hasn't time in childhood and early adulthood we have a role as you get older more mature more empowered it is totally destructive the third piece is the emotion the emotional coming out of balance is called disassociation and I discussed disassociation a moment ago and that's where I've lost the capacity to feel and the reason why I discussed disassociation in detail previously
22:37is because the emotional component is the critical turning point for everyone it's the emotional component which is the chemical the endocrine system of your body it is the thing that pushes you into various forms of addiction it's the thing that shuts you down, dumps you down it's the emotion I can give you information you can become aware of a concept but for it to become a belief for it to
23:10become a reality for you you need an emotional connection so the critical part in being present the critical part in becoming the master of your own psychology the critical part in being able to make your life work is the ability for you to feel feeling is far more significant than an awareness feeling is a big deal and it sits in body memory
23:43and it's a chemical thing the next thing is it becomes tension disease and so then it starts to affect the structure of your body and then you start to have structural breakdown organic damage and this is what conventional medicine measures and discovers and works on and so this part is by the time it's got there you have at least three layers of compacted pain sitting on top and you want to get
24:15to it well before it ever becomes a physical element people will have psychosomatic symptoms psychosomatic does not mean it's imaginary psychosomatic means it's cause is psychological and emotional equally as real as an issue that occurs via an external stimuli such as the toxin a parasite radiation and accident nutritional deficiency they will have a definite impact on the
24:52physicality and that's where most people are working at but the next level up is the emotional sensitivity if you can work on that emotional sensitivity it doesn't have to degenerate into physical ailments and so big deal the emotional component when these levels of consciousness are in balance then on a spiritual level you feel connected on and mental level you remember you
25:26become conscious on a emotional level you open your feeling function and then on a physical level it's as simple as feeling relaxed that's it you feel relaxed and your body is in harmony it feels normal it's like there's nothing to work out it just happens that's what you want so the levels of consciousness are how we're working through issues I am intending to present eventually 28
26:10presentations and the first one is on the mental level the psychological level and there are seven in that series we're currently in the fourth of those seven series and then after the series finishes I'll take a break for three weeks and then start the spiritual and do seven presentations on the spiritual and what's going on and eventually I'll go to the emotional and then
26:38to the physical so all four levels of consciousness will be covered and all will be covered with seven presentations and this one is the disassociation and I'm talking about disassociation at this time from the in the psychological series but I will also be talking about it more from an emotional in the emotional and the emotional perspective and so that's the levels of consciousness
27:10part three in the presentation is emotional well-being so the key is how do we get emotionally reconnected because this is the key how do we get emotionally reconnected and there are basically three usual areas the first one is therapy you go and do courses you read books you look at videos you listen to what we're doing here you're educated so it's therapy
27:40and education and so you're you're learning about the whole thing and you're hopefully working through various processes within yourself the second way of doing it is through positive habits and that's someone going to talk about here now because positive habits is something simple something you can do and without the necessity for spending lots of money and for you just to put it into your life
28:09positive habits are a big deal and the third one is present time awareness present time and awareness is the gold standard and this is what Eckhart Tolle talks about here's a well-known presenter in this area and he talks about being in present time present time awareness ultimately is the the crimdella cream meditation it's the one to do but present time awareness is not an easy
28:40present time awareness is extremely difficult because you have this disassociated body memory he calls it your pain body and you have this here and it's your pain body this disassociated emotional thing from your past that keeps throwing you out of present time because someone says no to you and as soon as they say no to you bang your into a whole lot of not feeling okay and then
29:10an annoyance comes up you know this silly thing for me years ago driving in the car when I didn't get my drink in the top in the way that I wanted it suddenly I'm having a major issue how can I be in present time in that moment I can't because I'm sitting on top of an iceberg feelings that I'm not even aware of yes I had this teeny when you've been sticking out the top and I think I'm
29:35okay but underneath there's this big shadow of emotion unresolved it only takes someone to go push a button I've lost my present time awareness so the key is really to develop positive habits that are going to enable you to maintain your emotional well-being and your if you can maintain your emotional well-being and present time awareness becomes a natural thing it's not something you
30:10have to work at it's not something you even have to think about and I trained myself and I'm training myself continuing to remind myself that the mechanism for maintaining my present time awareness is breathing through my nerves and as I'm talking to you there's a tendency for me to rush to speak very quickly and to try and be pretty thinking what I'm presenting and I'm not in present time
30:47I'm continuing to continuing to remind myself to breathe through the nose so present time awareness is the gold standard therapy education is significant and important and I highly recommend it but the simple easy thing to do is develop positive habits towards maintaining emotional well-being but in order to do that I need to explain two distinctions
31:17the first distinction I want to explain you know definition of terms in other words is the difference between projection and discern now I'm talking about projection from a psychological perspective and so projection if you think about it someone said no to me and I immediately get annoyed or I go somewhere and I this person has tattoos and earpeasings and nose and all this sort
31:59and I immediately have a judgment about who that person is and it doesn't even have to be that conscious I just switch off I think I don't like that person but don't and so that's projections projection is a reaction projection is a reaction so I have to be aware of my reactions and the reactions are always emotional the problem with emotions is that if I have significant
32:31disassociation in my personality I won't recognize the reaction and then I won't recognize the emotion associated with the reaction and then I get caught up with the other person's behavior and I use their behavior as an excuse for my reaction not recognizing that sitting within myself there is this deeper feeling or deeper emotion and so the simple way to describe projection is
33:04subjective it's something that I'm putting out there onto the environment through the filter of my own psychological conditioning then we have discernment and so what's discernment? discernment is a response you know I'm examining the world around me not all events are equally as efficient not all events are equally energetically conserving and example would be a simple one
33:46I'm waiting for the bus I can wait for the bus on the side of the road or I could wait for the bus in the middle of the road it's not resourceful to wait for a bus in the middle of the road particularly if there's a lot of traffic it's ridiculous you wouldn't even consider it you would just automatically go and stand on the side of the road because energetically those two choices are not equal it doesn't
34:10require a reaction you would just your logic your sense of efficiency your sense of conservation and energy would say this experience is superior to the other experience and so yes we need to be able to evaluate and make distinctions around things that work and things that don't work but at the same time we need to be aware of personal prejudices that are limiting
34:43our capacity to see the world in effect objectively and so discernment is a response it's talking about conservation of energy efficiency it's objective and projection is a reaction and it's emotional and subjective now if they were black and white and we only had discernment and we and we all we only had projection it would be relatively easy to figure it out but it's very complicated
35:14because you get a bit of both for instance in discernment I may be with someone who's making mistakes and they're just you know things that are common sense to me and I would imagine they should be able to do easily I'm looking at this person and what I'm recognizing is how are you know they're it's not okay they're not doing it well and then my projection comes up and says they're
35:41stupid they're incompetence they're trying to sabotage or they're dangerous that to me would be projection so we have a situation where someone is making a mistake and that is genuine but then my judgment about who they are and what it means to me is a complete projection someone else's mistake can either be corrected through education explanation or it may not be and then thank you very
36:14much I don't want to work with them but I don't need to have a judgment about wrong bad it's not okay so they usually the problem with them is they tend to be intertwined and that's what makes them complicated the next distinction I want to talk about is feeling and emotion now most people would use feeling and emotion it's the same in the same context you know this is I'm feeling
36:46something and it's really you know and you'll be talking about their emotions but here I want to draw a distinction that feeling means one thing and emotion means another in this instance emotion is a reaction it's like an emotion is something coming out of my unconscious an emotion is something that I'm being triggered by so it could be my anger my upset that's an emotion and a feeling is
37:21different a feeling is a communication it is my ability to sense the nonverbal universe around me it's my ability to sense the feeling state that I find myself in an example would be if you and I were had gone to a theater and on stage there were two actors a man and a woman and they were lovers and they broke up and the man left and the woman's left on stage and she's a very good
37:56actor and she's just gone into her grief and she's in her grief feeling her grief as she acts it I'm a member of the audience I can feel her grief and her grief is impacting on my body and on my senses it because I'm sensitive I can feel it now if I have unresolved emotion if I'm disassociated and I have experiences of grief that I haven't dealt with experiencing that grief
38:33from the external environment can activate my unresolved grief and before I know it I'm now sad but if I have no grief to deal with and I experience that grief as she's projecting it and so does she stops projecting it it's like a sound I can hear the sound while the sound is on I can hear it as soon as the sound is switched off I don't hear it it's the same with the feeling I can feel
39:02the feeling of sadness while I can feel the feeling while the feeling of sadness is being projected out into the environment I can feel it I can sense it and because I can sense that sadness that doesn't mean I'm sad it just means I can feel sadness it's coming from somewhere but because most people are so emotionally congested and disassociated they're unable to discern the external
39:34environment from their internal environment and so they feel initially the sadness it activates their own sadness and now they're lost in their own sadness and they can't tell the difference between the sadness the component of sadness is coming from outside and the component of sadness that's been stored and being activated that is an emotion the other one feeling is a communication
39:59this is important because your emotionally sensitive and as I went for instance if I went to a party and I'm sitting in a party in this 20 or 30 people and and someone's really angry then I would feel their anger and I were if I'm not careful I could start to think I am angry but no this is the anger I am feeling in the environment I find myself in and so that's important to be able to make
40:35that distinction the difference between feeling and emotion and one of a key thing in understanding whether something is emotional or feeling is that the voice of emotion is loud it has a loud voice and whenever you get the emotional voice be very very wary be very careful if you make decisions based on your emotional voice I would say majority of the time you're going to make bad decisions
41:13you need to make your decisions on your feeling but your feeling is very quiet and that's the problem you can get a feeling coming through on one occasion I can remember having this feeling I met someone and I was very enamored with them and I was thinking yes I want to be there I want to be there and my internal guidance came through and said no this isn't for you this is just this experience for
41:42now move on and because I was so enamored and I was so attached I stopped listening to that and that was a disaster for me and I've learned now there's only been two occasions in my life where I didn't listen to that inner voice and both times have turned out poorly whereas now if I get an inner voice boom that's again I listen to it emotion I have to really put it to one side
42:16calm down feel better so now how do we work with our emotions our emotional well-being and as I mentioned before to find your emotional well-being to establish positive habits and these activities or positive habits for emotional well-being need to be established before you need them this isn't something you can do when you need it you have to do this before you need it
42:45because if you don't when you need it you just won't do it absolutely won't do it so if you've established this as a routine and as a habit before you need it when you need it you have a better chance of being able to do it but even then it's still going to be difficult but you will have no chance of doing it if you haven't established it I hear often people who are suffering from anxiety and
43:09depression they're told to go and do all these sort of things jogging power walking swimming surfing bathing singing massage breathwork go to a coach trainer having fun there's no way I just don't want to go and do it I just won't do it and it's like you have to establish this you need to establish a positive emotional set of habits and these set of habits are a safety net and if you
43:43haven't established those habits it's absolutely important that you get someone to support you you can have a personal friend that you do it together or you know go power walking jogging together swimming surfing jumping in the ocean it's called Dr Salt and that is one of the best ways to heal yourself bathing lying in a bathroom more than 15 minutes relaxing singing in a choir playing a musical
44:11instrument having a massage breathwork all these things are significant on my website I have a more comprehensive list of things you can do to emotionally support you but this is a safety net and this isn't an option you may think I used to think these things were options I could do the one not do them but as my life progressed and I started to crash and burn around various things
44:44I thought what do I do do I go and become a medication prescription medication addict or do I start to work on myself and release these things and I have been pushed into these out of absolute necessity and then after some time of doing them they just become natural and normal and I couldn't imagine not doing but initially it's taken an effort and I've needed support
45:13so I highly recommend highly support you to be aware of your emotional sensitivity to be doing these things on a regular basis pick one make it really easy go power walking and do that five times a week if you're fit and strong enough and you feel like it's a job if you're close to a beach or a swimming pool swim or surf you know if you've got a bath at home jump in the bath for 15
45:45minutes three to four times a week every second night if you're under pressure you need to be processing this process this process is the endocrine system this brings your emotional temperature down this enables you to feel calm in that calmness in that more centered approach you can begin to start figuring out why is this happening what's going on why am I being plugged
46:15in none of this is you every single piece of this is programming you are not your symptoms you are something absolutely magnificent and the key is to be continually reminding yourself you are as strong as your strongest link and you just need to hold that sense of certainty about yourself and that is your destiny and hopefully you achieve that destiny in this lifetime and
46:54within a reasonable period of time and not having to struggle about it but thank you for coming and being part of this the next webinar is in two weeks time from seven to eight Tuesday the 19th of May and I'm going to talk about present time awareness this today was the positive habits and so how do I get into present time awareness I don't have to believe all my thoughts how do I
47:22stay here register at myclovermeadies.com it's the website and there's a series of webinars you need to register for each one of those webinars if you register for one you're only registered for that particular one you're more than welcome to invite other people if you think it's going to help them and all past presentations are available for viewing on the website and tonight's presentation
47:48will be on the website by tomorrow five o'clock so if you want to see it again or you want to recommend it to someone they can go to the website also that thing on emotional well-being there's a handout a PDF document that you can go to and you will get you can get a copy of it I also want to thank um radion sockelov radion is the production marketing and web design person he's been working
48:20behind the scenes and he's absolutely brilliant highly recommend him if you ever need someone for web support he's an angel he's fabulous he's very very smart in this so highly recommended do remember breathe through your nose and now we're going to spend about the next 10 15 minutes answering questions if you have any questions please write them get them down
48:50and I will answer the questions now so just give me a moment here we go and questions and the first question um the first one was can you elaborate on what foods you crave for for which emotions look that's a very big question I can just give you some basics I'll just give you the three basic emotions and that is fear fear is anything that clogs up the colon and
49:29that's not letting go a typical thing for fear is very gluggy um carbohydrates cakes are great thing for clogging up fear and breads and pastas and things like that when it comes to anger it's anything that suppresses the liver it's fatty things and particularly fried food and so we're looking at you know fried chips and cheese and you know pizzas and things like that
50:07um for the sadness it is to do with the pancreas which is the processing an insulin which is to give you a lot more joy in life and so with that it's sweet things having a lot of sweets a lot of sugars chocolate kind of goes two ways it's good for anger and it is also a good full sadness because it's a very sweet chocolate if you just had very raw are you percent chocolate that's a different
50:42matter of thing but if you're getting chocolate with a lot of milk in it a lot of sugar in it a lot of fat in it then it's hitting the liver and it's hitting the pancreas so it's a whole there's a whole range of things but yes you can actually tell someone's emotional state by following the diet the food they're eating the next question was thank you so much for being
51:05here I just received your book because I'm really enjoying the sessions someone just said thank you thank you Dana really appreciate that another question do you have a list of this association actions we can refer to you said craving for fat suppress liver and sugar suppressor's insulin but what emotion does they relate to I don't I don't have that sort of precise information it's very general
51:33I'm sure someone has worked it out I just haven't put my attention into looking specifically at the foods I eat and what the emotions generally speaking something that is a craving for fat relates to anger a craving for sugar relates to sadness and anything that is um gluggy and blocking up the colon is about fear you can't let go that's the general answer to that someone says as me that what is
52:11the course of insomnia and arthritis what called emotions are we holding on to insomnia invariably is anxiety it's a form of anxiety it's really to do with your two mentally wound up there's too much mental processing going on and the mental processing is because you're trying to resolve and work out problems so um in some near it means you can't let go you can't
52:44relax and so what you have to do is stop thinking the best thing to do is have baths if you don't have a bath then you've got to go to the gym and start working out arthritis arthritis is rigidity holding on kind of protect yourself it's like a fear of letting go and it's also there's a corresponding your body is most likely to acidic your eating too many processed foods you've got
53:14to alkalize your body one of the ways I do I alkalize my body is I have my water bottle and I put about a third of a teaspoon in 500 mls of bicarbonated soda you know and I get that from coals or release you can buy a 500 gram pack you put it in shake it up and it really alkalizes the water so if you're drinking a couple of litres for these little bottles a day the then is going to change
53:45the chemical composition of the blood and it will definitely help with releasing the arthritic symptoms that your arthritis is to do with one your body is too acidic and but mostly there's holding on you know that to let go you know feeling safe that's that someone else Lee Dawson said the connection between sounds and feelings just listening to them and letting them
54:14go is very powerful yes absolutely thank you for that if you can just sit there and be present and listen to them and not attach to them it's a very powerful way of letting go what Lee is describing isn't is a technique for being in prison time and sitting there and just handling that and someone just said how do you define an addiction an addiction fundamentally is any process
54:44that takes you out of prison time so by that definition they're all addicts that to a greater or lesser extent the only person who's not an addict has really is simply and can stay in present time but most of us are addicts our greatest addiction number one is we overthink we can't we're addiction to thinking is our greatest addiction our second greatest addiction is addiction to eating
55:11we eat too much and then all these other things about illicit drugs and working too hard yes they're obvious ones but the less the two least obvious ones are the eating and the drinking because our society has made constant thinking of virtue which it really isn't this destructive and that's one of the main reasons why we have so much anxiety and depression in society
55:36and the number of people who are suffering mental illnesses is going right out through the roof because we're in this kind of a perfect storm at the moment we have one huge amount of education people are so educated and we've been turned into rational minds we've lost in a sense how compassion outheart and become heads and that's a great deal to do with the way we're being
56:05educated formally educated too we are in this massive environmental stimulus over constantly being bombarded with information which constantly keeps stimulating the mental so we're in our rational mind all the time so we're constantly overthinking overthinking overthinking and three we have become so domesticated and disconnected from the natural world which would be
56:37a normal way of kind of draining away the stress the stress isn't draining away so we're in this you know it's a same perfect storm situation where we're coming to a crisis point short term it's going to be extremely difficult long term most people and I think the majority of people listening right now will only become more amazing stronger more powerful but in order for that to occur
57:08you have to be pushed to the brink you have to be pushed to a point where it's just impossible to bear and too hard and too much to cope with I'm speaking from my own experience I have got into this and done this out of a necessity to survive I've had to do this because if I didn't do this I literally would have gone crazy I wouldn't be able to deal with life and in the process of
57:34doing this I have found a piece and a power and a love and an affluence that this fabulous and that's the other side of it but I've been driven to this I've had to do this and I can say I haven't always been the best student and I've you know since been dragged screaming and kicking into paradise and I believe most of you will get to paradise but hopefully you don't have to go through
58:11the screaming and kicking phase. The next question what is the cause I've answered that one is there any meaning behind being highly emotional say when you're watching a movie that hits a chord inside yet when something actually happens to me on a personal level I hardly ever feel sad or cry absolutely when you're sitting and watching it on TV or a movie and you're getting
58:40highly emotional that's safe for you and because it's safe for you and because it's hitting a chord it's actually hitting a whole lot of emotion that has not been expressed now this emotion that hasn't been expressed most likely is coming from you know your ancestral memory your mother or your father or things like that but that's why it's probably hard for you to connect to
59:08and it's been a habit of being strong and being capable and being able to get through things and deal with stress but that has shut you down and so when you're on a personal level on your round other people you don't feel it because that part of you is disconnected that's disassociation so there would be a huge amount of emotion that's sitting in your unconscious that is yet to be
59:39recognized now if you're getting that highly emotional connection watching movies use that as a clue to see what is it in me and it's I can understand why you wouldn't feel it around other people because that's very sensitive that's a very emotionally vulnerable thing to do but try and figure it out from the privacy of what's going on the thing that makes me cry today is
60:10love when I connect to something that's really loving and caring and people are pretty I just find the tears welling up but that's really a sense of me feeling the love it's not a matter of because I'm feeling sad you know and it's a very different thing the next question Michael how do you differentiate between feelings and emotions as they come up that is John that is a
60:39practice feelings tend to be very quiet and emotions tend to be very loud feelings tend to have a lot of judgment and association with them whereas sorry emotions have a lot of judgment and disconnect around them whereas feelings are just like it's just an inner knowing it's an awareness so there's actually two levels to feelings I didn't explain it all because I'm just giving
61:13your brief overview in another presentation I will be going into feelings and greater depth but just for now there are two levels to feelings one is feeling the environment so what you're doing is you're feeling the environmental thing that's going on you're feeling what's happening in your environment there are people that are upset around you you can feel those upsets you're watching
61:38TV show and they're all being emotional on TV you can sense their emotion so that is feeling you're feeling it but then if it starts to create a reaction in you and you're now after that being switched off on you're still experiencing it then absolutely it is an emotion or if you're around an angry person and you can feel their anger that's feeling and then you're now angry at
62:07them being angry because their anger has disturbed your peace and they don't have the right to be angry in the way they're being angry and you have a whole lot of story around that the nature emotion and so it really is a trial and error thing I can give you a description of it and now you just have to play with it and test it thank you John a anonymous one if you have a disease
62:33already the approach all levels of consciousness at the same time or work your way up excellent question depends on the disease look if I've got a really significant physical album then I would recommend initially just go and work out the solution to it physically go and see a medical practitioner a natural health practitioner whatever works for you but I would go and
63:03seek initially a physical solution to what's going on and then at the same time I would be asking myself what's the emotion underlying that physicality to see if I can get a connection I would also be looking at what's that emotion where does it come from and how does it relate to my childhood and the concepts and beliefs that I have about myself and on some level its separation so over a
63:28a period of time I would work on all four levels simultaneously but if I am experiencing a this stage a real physical ailment then I would initially try a physical solution and then I'd be looking at the other ones but over a period of time I believe you need all four but if you profoundly just are saying that if you really profoundly connect to it physically it will have a spontaneous
63:58emotional mental and spiritual disconnect releasing it they're on all four levels I have seen people go in and do very powerful physical therapies in particular through bodywork and stuff like that and in doing the bodywork they have emotional release and mental realization and suddenly something open for them I'd seen people come in and do meditation and be profoundly open and open their hearts
64:25and in the process of doing that a realization this emotion released and suddenly they felt better if you're dealing with a whole lot of issues around say a marriage breakout when you're feeling depressed then I'd be looking at emotional psychological first that's the general thing so look I know there's lots I've got two two more I'm going to do two more and finish ones from Alex and it says
64:52and Michael thank you for this webinar it all makes perfect sense why I now have two type two diabetes being raised in Scotland everything is fatty deep fried and I don't crave sugar I'm a savory crave another part of the puzzle has just landed your part on the cessation made perfect sense to me I'm very needless and one won't listen no no so thank you Alex that's you know just verifying
65:21what's happening with it and you know that's it and we just do our best you know there's no you've got become a scientist to your own process the affirmation and I discussed it in another presentation I'm now learning to not take my personality personally so I've just got to here's my issue let's work it out I'm not wrong how it happened isn't wrong I just got to figure it out and
65:50get beyond it because if I don't it's a massive stress in my life last one Kate thanks so much Michael love the session what is your suggestion for managing emotional well well being when you wake up in the night and things seem all too much free breath we're get up and move sit in the feeling you sit in the feeling sit in the feeling especially if it's at night if you're at night what's actually happening
66:16is there is a biological clock and the Chinese medical people have got it all worked out and this biological clock runs every two hours and every two hours a different organ is activated said there are 12 different organ meridian channels that are activated over a 24 hour period and usually at night you're getting the heart blabber meridian and living meridian you're getting
66:44a whole lot of stuff around fear survival loss being activated and so when that occurs you must just sit with it you can't really get up in the middle of the night you start walking around and doing a a whole lot of stuff what you have to do is stay present with it so my recommendation Kate which is as light air and bed and just breathe through your nose and you can you can deal with
67:14a number of ways one way would be present time awareness which is just feel the feeling feel the overwhelm feel it's all too much allow yourself to die to it allow you this emotion that's coming up to consume you and think to yourself what's the worst thing that could happen I'm going to die because here I am in the middle of this and I'm totally overwhelmed by circumstances in my life
67:43just go into that just go down into that feel it feel it feel it feel it and no one ever died from anxiety people die from trying to prevent the anxiety if you stay with the anxiety feel the anxiety it's very uncomfortable but something shifts usually if you fully go into it 15 minutes is about the level the maximum amount of time that it get that intensity of it because unless you spiral into
68:18a whole lot of other thinking but if you could just stay with the feeling feel the feeling feel the feeling feel the feeling 15 minutes is about it but if you go into feeling the feeling and then catastrophize catastrophize oh well is me this will never end it's gonna go well so be it it's not going to end but if you just say I know nothing I make no decision so I forgot the question I zero
68:44I have no thoughts about what's happening I am just here feeling the discomfort feeling the pain feeling what's going on 15 minutes is max but if you go into a whole lot of story about it no stay with it stay with it stay with it and usually you could be under in five minutes but you've got to feel it you've got to be prepared to be emotionally and psychologically
69:08annihilated and the other side of your annihilation is freedom you cannot be not awake you come it's just another story with plays in the head it's a go for it thank you look thank you guys and that's really it we've gone over time and thank you for coming thank you for listening and in two weeks time I'll do the one on present time awareness and come and join us and
69:44keep breathing through the nose thank you
