0:00Welcome. This is the sixth presentation in this virtual series. It's titled Death and Dying. And in this presentation there are three parts. Part one is aging. Part two is death and dying. And part three the art of dying consciously. But just before we start I want us to do a one minute centering exercise to get present.
0:26So spine straight, head erect, eyes gently closed and absolutely perfectly still. Now take in a long slow deep breath through your nose and sigh it out through your mouth. Letting go of any tension you may be feeling. Take your awareness to the sounds around you. The sounds outside of the room and the noise of traffic people
1:18nature. Now take your awareness 20 sounds inside of the room. The sound of my voice and the sound of your breath. And take your awareness to the breath entering and exiting your nose. And take two long slow breaths through the nose. And then return your attention to the screen. Welcome everybody. And although the main theme of this presentation is death and dying,
2:35in the first section I want to talk about the aging process as it's related and it's a step before letting go and dying. It relates to the quality of your life and in particular in your senior years. Unfortunately many people define themselves as being old well before they need to. And I want to explain how we can look at age differently. There are three ways to measure age or to
3:08look at your age. The first way is chronological and this is basically the number of years you have lived. I was born in 1949 so that makes me 71 years old. That's straightforward and that's the usual way most people think of how old you are. The second measure of age is psychological and this is a measure of your mental and emotional maturity. I've met many people in their 50s
3:42and 60s who have the mental age of a spoiled teenager. They're very egocentric and it's all about them. Also there are many adults who behave like emotional children. Blaming their anger or sadness on people and circumstances around them. This behaviour is immature, stressful and at times destructive to their relationships. They never get to work out the real cause of their upset and
4:15they keep on playing out negative patterns of behaviour and exhaust the people around them. On occasion I meet someone who's the opposite way and they're mentally and emotionally more mature than their chronological age. Recently I cancelled a 16 year old girl who has the emotional and psychological maturity of a 26 year old. Your chronological age is often not a measure
4:44of your mental or emotional age. The third measure of your age is your biological age. It's like how fit and healthy you are. I know a friend who's 73 years young and she looks like a 45 year old. She's remarkable. She trains five days a week, eats really well, has no binge eating, eats very organic. But I find my biological age varies with the amount of pressure I'm experiencing.
5:21The last 12 months have been very pressured with moved 1,000 kilometres from the central coast New South Wales to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia and then spent most of the time renovating our new home with builders here almost every day. But the more pressure I experience, the more focus I need. In order to rise above the pressure and to process the stress, my way of
5:50processing the stress is to regularly go to the gym and go for a swim at the beach. In my youth, I could miss the exercise and training because my natural vitality would see me through. But the older I've got, the older your chronological age becomes, the more you have to focus on staying clear. You can't take it for granted. I believe your biological age
6:16is the most important measure of how old you are. That is your physical fitness and health the vitality that you have. It's no good living to 100 years if you have to spend the last 20 years in poor health. The only piece of real estate that ultimately matters is the one you walk around in your body. But how long can we keep our physical body? And what's a reasonable time to expect to
6:47live in that body? Well, if we look at life expectancy worldwide from the chart, you can see that Hong Kong is supposed to have the highest average life expectancy at 84.7 years followed by Japan with 84.5 years. The USAA comes in at 38 with an overall life expectancy of 78.9 years. The lowest at 186th was the Central African Republic with an average life expectancy
7:27of 52.8 years, 55 years for women and 50 years for men. So what sort of stress does this country live in? With so many of its people dying at such a young age, worldwide the average life expectancy was 71 years. And if you take care of yourself, I'm sure you can easily live well past 100. And these life expectancies are just how we are today. But we're able to go beyond that more than that.
8:02In the next slide, here are two photos of Jean-Ann Louis Calmeux, according to Wikipedia, she's the oldest recorded person. It's a remarkable achievement to get to 122 years and 164 days. But by the time she got she was blind and physically incapacitated, living in a nursing home. What was her quality of life like? So how long can we live? There are two quotes from the Bible about age. For a long time,
8:44I've very much discarded the Bible and it's only been through some quite remarkable people recommending various quotes and things that there is quite universal knowledge, very important universal knowledge that sits in the Bible. And there are two references about age in the Bible. The first one is from Psalms 90, chapter line 10, which reads,
9:16the days of our years are three score and 10. And if by reason of strength, they before scores years, yet is their strength and labor and sorrow for it is soon cut off and we fly away. So basically they're saying that three score years and 10 score meaning 20 years. It's an all way of saying it. So according to the Bible, we as humans are meant to live between 70 years and four score meaning
9:4780 years. That's between 70 and 80 years. And if you look at the life expectancy charts, the country number one Hong Kong is at 84.7 years and the bottom country at 186th Central African Republic as they'll expect them see a 52 years and the world average is 71 years. So pretty much we're at the point of what Psalm says about how we should live and how long we would
10:21live. I can remember my father saying he was very surprised that he got to 70 years of age. He thought that he'd be lucky to get past 65. He eventually lived to 82, which really is still not a very old age at all. But his life was very difficult. And so 70-odd years, 80 years seems to be the norm for most people. But if we look at another reference in the Bible, it's very, probably very difficult
10:53to read it. I've just written it out in great detail that particular chapter. But the pieces that are significant are the ones that I've marked in green and I'll just read them out. The first one is if you look at line five and all the days that Adam lived were 9 hundred and 30 years and he died. Then you look at line eight and all the days of Seth were 9 hundred
11:30and 12 years and he died. Then you look at line eleven and all the days of Enos were 9 hundred and five years and then he died. Then if we go down to line twenty seven, it says that all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty years and he died. He get the idea. It's a genealogical describing the ages of the main people from this tribe. And there are some other lines that
12:00I've marked in blue which I'll talk about later in lines twenty three and twenty four. But so what does all this mean? Is this real? Is there something we can really look at? Well, I've been thinking about it. I'm thinking, you know, there are five different ways you could think about this information. First of all, it's fiction. It's a made up story and for what purpose I'm not really sure.
12:25But if you think about why people make up stories today, it's to influence people, it's to control people or it's to entertain you. So they're the main reasons we make things up. Or it could be a mistake. A mistake in translation. It's a different language, a different culture, a different so we don't really know the meaning. So what has written there is incorrect. Three, it could be a
12:50metaphor. It's not meant to be taken literally. It's just symbolic. It may just mean that people lived for a long time. So it may not be, yes, they lived that those many hundreds of years. Or four, it could be there was a different system than measuring. It could be months not years. So if you you divide a Methusela's age by 13, that's a number of moons in a year, you would get 74.5 years,
13:20which is the age most people live. So that isn't very remarkable. Or it could be true. I really don't know. But my intuition might tend to lean towards the idea that it is true. And if that's the case, then what happened? What happened to us? Have we gone backwards? Is this the result of civilization or the type of civilization we experienced in the past? If I look at a modern day
13:54philosopher like Buckminster Fuller and in his book Critical Path that he wrote in 1981, he predicted back then that the average person under the age of 40 in 1981 would live to more than 130 years. And he based his prediction on actuarial life charts going back to 1900, the advances in nutrition, medicine, technology and the increasing affluence of the population. So if this genesis story is true,
14:28then for us to live to 130 should not be that big step. And even though we are experiencing significant pressure from the environment, the economy, technology, consumption overload, people are still smarter, better educated and higher and have higher expectations that at any time in recorded history. And if there is a short term setback, long term consciousness can only go forward.
15:06I can only see us really expanding the whole sense of our age and how long we can live for. And to understand that your life expectancy is not a set thing. Yes, you could be born with a potential to live for a certain number of years. But if you transform yourself, then you can change your life expectancy. For instance, if we look at astrology, you know, I was born under the sun sign of cancer
15:37in the moon of Scorpio and you could say that gave me a kind of an indication of certain lessons I needed to learn. I was born at that time, which meant there's certain lessons for me. But the whole idea of consciousness as you begin to transform yourself, those personality traits, those lessons that you inherited at the time of your birth, no longer are applicable. You change from being
16:06a particular star sign to becoming the cosmic person. So I no longer need to think of myself as being a cancerian or having a Scorpio moon. I am someone who embodies the entire zodiac because I have grown. I have grown beyond those lessons that I needed to learn. So our potential life expectancy is the same. We are born with the potential. But if you become conscious, that potential
16:38changes and it can become far greater than what we were destined to have and what we've been told and what most people imagine. The next section is on death and dying and according to Wikipedia, it's the permanent sensation of all biological functions that sustain a living organism. And what occurs for us, death and dying is filled with much confusion and it's often pictured as
17:11inevitable and often a sad ending to many people's lives. But I believe it's misunderstood. Death is actually a projection of the ego mind. Death is part of a programming. If you do not have this program, if you don't have the ego, there would be no sense of death. Yes, the body would finish. Yes, there would be an end to the physical body, but there wouldn't be a fear of loss. There
17:44wouldn't be a sense that some part of you is missing because the real you is eternal. The ego, that part of us has identified with the feelings and thoughts and sees that as being us. The consequence in identifying with the ego is the belief in death. You are not your body or your ego, or your mind, or your emotions, or your your physicality. You are something far greater.
18:15But for most people, they see themselves as just being their physical body. I'm talking about death. There are three ways to leave the physical body. And the most common way of leaving the physical body is suicide. And most people live unconscious lives. They're not aware of the level of programming. They're subjected to it. They think that a physical illness,
18:45a relationship breakdown and financial stress is due primarily to external circumstances that they have little or no control over. Initially, most people don't have much control over the external circumstances. But if they deal with the way in which it affects their emotions, they can bring about a change in those circumstances. A change occurs in the way you relate to life
19:13and a change occurs in your frequency, your your your radiance, your energy, which has a different brings a different set of circumstances to you. But most people don't know what to do. And all they want to do is be happy and survive the circumstances. They find themselves in. And unfortunately not not looking at that deeper cause as to why these things are occurring,
19:48it creates a lifetime of stress. They get into poor diet, addictive habits. And they end up with prescription medication. So most people become toxic. Their vitality drops and the body can no longer sustain life. And their consciousness is forcibly ejected from their body. It's like a jet fighter and a jet fighter pilot who's being ejected from a crashing plane. It would have been much better
20:24to not crash the plane in the first place and land it gracefully. But most people, their body has fallen apart and they have no choice. Their spirit is forcibly ejected. There is the conscious suicide and that's when someone gets to a point in their life where they don't want to live any longer. Only a few days ago I was talking to my local shopkeeper and he was telling me about
20:56a boy who worked for him for a couple of years and then he moved onto another job. He lost track of him for about a year and only recently he had heard he committed suicide. He was 22 years of age. The next way of leaving your body is called Mahasamadi. It's an Indian word and it means the great sleep or the great bliss. If we continue the jet fighter plane analogy it's an example of the pilot
21:27landing the plane safely and stepping out of the plane, not crashing, not having your body die on you before you can consciously leave it. One of the most famous examples of this Mahasamadi is the passing of Yogananda in 1952 and here is the last photo taken of Paramahansa Yogananda and now before he exited his body. He's 59 years of age. Look at his face, look at his eyes,
22:02his left eyes are a little closed but he looks in good health. His passing on was not due to ill health. It wasn't that his body was not able to keep itself alive. I'm sure no vital organs failed. He didn't have a heart attack half an hour later or a stroke. He deliberately took his consciousness out of his body never to return. If you read accounts at the time he's even saying to his assistant,
22:35this will be my last day. I'm old be going and he was prepared and ready for it and he'd been to a banquet just before. We can often take our consciousness out of our body in dreams but it's not a conscious choice. We may remember parts of that experience but it's something that happened to us and we're always returning back to the body. When someone reaches Yogananda's level of consciousness
23:10they are able and often wish to transcend to the next level. I wouldn't be surprised that Yogananda had reached the state of being able to transcend his body sometime before but chose to stay and teach. It's desire that keeps us earthbound, transcending our or fulfilling our desires, frees us to move forward. The way in and like master, the way someone like Yogananda could stay earthbound
23:42is by desiring to help others. It's the desire to help others that keeps him here even after they had finished the need to be here. They say that it's only about 20% of people who reached that state of consciousness that choose to stay in their bodies. 80% move on but they continue to support humanity by becoming part of the universal consciousness, by becoming part of the creative
24:13God consciousness. The God consciousness is constantly evolving through the absorption of all these individual consciousness. Here is a letter that was sent to the Self-realization fellowship by the mortuary director at the time of his death. I want to read this letter. I've written it out. It's probably very difficult to read on the screen but let me read it out for you. It's in the book
24:46at the back of the book, Autobiography of the Yogi, the very famous book that Paramahansa Yogananda wrote. Paramahansa is just the title. The literal translation is great swan and Yogananda is his name so the great swan or the great consciousness. Here we are Mr Harry T. Rowe, Los Angeles mortuary director Forest Lawn Memorial Park in which the body of the great master is temporarily placed,
25:19sent Self-realization fellowship and notarized letter from which the following extracts are taken. The absence of any visual signs of decay in the dead body of Paramahansa Yogananda offers the most extraordinary case in our experience no physical disintegration was visible in his body even 20 days after death. No indication of mould was visible on his skin and no visible
25:50desecation drying up took place in the bodily tissues. This state of perfect preservation of a body is so far as we know from mortuary animals an unparalleled one. At the time of receiving Yogananda's body, the mortuary personnel expected to observe through the glass lid of the case the usual progressive signs of bodily decay. Our astonishment increased as day followed day without bringing any visible
26:27change in the body under observation. Yogananda's body was apparently in a phenomenal state of immutability. No odor of decay emanated from his body at any time. The physical appearance of Yogananda on March the 27th just before the bronze cover of the casket was put into position was the same as it had been on March the 7th. He looked on March the 20th 27th as fresh and as unreveaged by
27:08decay as he had looked on the night of his death. Amazing you know it's like it's not that Yogananda's body won't ever decay but it's but it's to me it's like the difference between a raw piece of meat and a plum. If you place a raw piece of meat in the sun then in a short time it will start to rot it putrefies and decays and begins to smell and leave a stain. Whereas if you place a plum in the
27:45sun it can dry out and turn into a prune. Yogananda's body wasn't toxic so it didn't putrefy. It would eventually dehydrate as all the bodily fluids drained out but his body didn't eject his consciousness his body still remained okay relatively healthy. He was at a point where he could leave and he made the choice to leave. This is consciously leaving your body. This is a reality that's possible for
28:25all of us. It's a matter of being aware at the time of passing and if you're aware at the time of passing you can change that whole process of passing or you can choose a time when to pass. You can you can work both ways if you're fully there like a Yogananda you can choose a long time in advance to go if you're not quite at Yogananda stage then at the time when it's like your time to go whatever the time
28:55is. If you stay conscious you can still leave in a conscious way even if your body is getting to the point of not being able to continue anymore. This is Mahasamari this is a conscious letting go of your body. It requires you to come to terms with the ego. I will talk about that more in a moment. The next way of leaving the physical body is ascension and ascension is like it sounds. It's really
29:29way out but it's basically an individual has reached a point in their evolutionary development where they can turn the physicality of their body into energy and Einstein some time back had his famous formula equals MC squared and showed that there was a relationship between matter and energy. these ancient yogis and even some modern day ones are able to speed up the energy of their body
30:06the matter in their body and change it into energy and this is this sense of ascension from our perspective it can sound quite fanciful and a quote in the Bible if we look at this next slide and its genesis and if we look at lines 23 and 24 and in that it says and all the days of Enoch was 605 years and Enoch walked with God and he was not for God took him. Now for all the
30:47other quotes they say and he died and he died whatever but for Enoch he lived for 300 odd years and then he walked with God he was not for God took him so what does that mean to me it means that there was a different way for Enoch to live and then we'll not live for Enoch to die and then he departed in a different way not even I believe a conscious way something else happened he was no longer there even
31:23Jesus was said at the time of his crucifixion he was put into the cave and then he reappeared physically he reincarnated there was an ascension that took place at that time and I believe this reference in Genesis is about Enoch is similar to what happened to Jesus yes there is this possibility there's also a reference in the book you know autobiography of a yogi of Sri Yuktaswa and Sri Yuktaswa was
32:03done this. Yoginanda was grieving at his Guru's passing and then Sri Yuktaswa appeared before him and he asked him and quote but he said you master the same line of God are you wearing a body like the one I buried beneath the cruel Puri sands yes my child I am the same this is a flesh and blood though I see it as a theory to your site it is physical from the cosmic atoms I created an entirely
32:40new body exactly like that cosmic dream physical body which you laid beneath the dream sands a Puri in your dream world I am in truth resurrected but not on earth but on an astral plane now you know again you can say well bullshit bullshit bullshit these guys are cramping on but none of look to me Yoginanda is the genuine article is the real deal and we have been dumbed down
33:16as to what is the possibility for us and to even think that it's possible to leave this material plane in a different way wow it just all starts to sound too fanciful but I believe that Sri Yuktaswa did materialize his body at the time of leaving and the body was buried but he rematerialized the body to visit Yoginanda similar to what Christ did after his
33:50crucifixion you know so these things are a reality for certain beings certain people on the planet for us the most likely scenario is that we can live to a long and healthy life far longer than the normal 80 90 years you could get to the 130th so be if that's what you want and still live a life that is healthy and strong you don't need your body to fall apart decay as a consequence
34:27of getting old and as part of dying it's not something that is pre-programmed that has to be it happens to the majority of people but it's possible to keep your body strong and healthy right up to the time when it's time for you to go whether that's at 60 years 70 years 80 years 130 years you can still keep a strong and viable body the time has come you've completed what you need to
34:56complete and it's time to move on that is a possibility and another possibility is that you haven't been able to sustain the full integrity of your body and the vitality of your body it is starting to fall apart you're getting to the point where the physical vitality of the body can't continue anymore and now it's time for you to go you could still go consciously even in that situation
35:26it's not a Maha Samari where you make a choice of this is my day and I'm going but rather it is a conscious letting go and that conscious letting go is significant because it means that you don't have to come back and relive the game all over again the belief in death is the effect of having an ego the ego is programmed it's this programmed awareness that identifies you to being the body
35:56in mind the actual living of your body can occur in three ways through the breakdown and the consciousness ejected that suicide your consciousness leaves your body consciously you and that is Maha Samari or you can dematerialize or rematerialize the body but fundamentally you cannot die you cannot die your body it's the ego that has identified with the personality the thinking the feeling the behavior and the
36:33physical body that is going to finish there's another part to you this next bit is I'm talking about is the art of dying consciously if death is the consequence of the ego then anything that reduces the effect of the ego will lessen the shock of death and here's an artist impression of the death of Buddha he died in 483 BC or about 400 BC aged 80 in India at the time according to Osho as the story goes
37:08let me read out what the death of Buddha was like the day Buddha died in the morning he gathered all these disciples all these sannyasans and told them the last day has come my boat has arrived and I have to leave this has been a beautiful journey a beautiful togetherness if you have any questions to ask you can ask them because I will not be able to be with you physically anymore
37:42a great silence fell on the disciples a great sadness and Buddha laughed and said don't be sad because that's what I've been teaching you again and again everything that begins ends now let me teach you by my death too as I have been teaching you through my life let me teach you through my death too nobody could gather the courage to ask a question their whole life they had asked
38:13thousands and thousands of questions and this was not a moment to ask anything they were not in the mood they were crying and weeping so Buddha said goodbye if you don't have any questions then I will depart he sat under the tree with closed eyes and disappeared from the body in the Buddhist this is called the first meditation to disappear from the body it means to disidentify
38:41yourself from the body to totally and absolutely know that I am not the body and so Buddha did a Maha Samadhi here he is my times come he was a idea I did that was 80 years of age and it was time to go and they say that on the day Buddha died that in the letting go a certain number of his advanced disciples also let go at the same time and were able to reach
39:17their enlightenment and they were kind of like carried on his energy the Buddhists understanding of death they call at the four stages of dying the first stage is the letting go of the body the second stage is the the mind is dropped and the third stage the heart is dropped and the fourth stage individual consciousness is dropped the first stage is to disidentify from the body and know
39:50that I am not my body Buddha had no fear in letting go of his body with the second stage the mind is dropped Buddha has dropped his mind ego conditioning 40 years earlier when he became enlightened I am sure that is what he had also done he had dropped his mind his conditioning he could have left 42 years ago but he kept his thinking planning organizing mind in order to serve his disciples
40:22and the people around them and even though he had dropped this ego part of his mind he needed to keep a connection to it otherwise he wouldn't have been able to stay in his physical body in the third meditation he disconnects from his heart it was through his compassion his heart that he connected with his disciples and now this has even let go and when the first three stages
40:50of meditation at complete the fourth stage happens automatically his individual consciousness is dropped and he is no more he is no more a person no more a form he is like a wave rising and breaking emerging with the ocean it is what he knew many years before and at time of his enlightenment he delayed it in order to help people it is said that many who were present and his death were transformed
41:20and so the whole connection the thing with Buddha is you know it is like death is not something that the universe creates someone is beautiful and amazing as Buddha and then suddenly all that consciousness awareness love that had taken how many lifetimes and how long to get there is now just extinguished and it comes to an end it doesn't go like that what occurs is that once this person
41:56exits the physical body consciousness they may go to another level like Sri Yukteswar and work on an astral level for a period of time but eventually what occurs is they merge with the mass consciousness they merge with the God consciousness and so what's actually happening is through these people dying consciously through you departing this physical body consciously through me
42:27departing this physical body consciousness we're adding to the universal intelligence it's like the God consciousness the universal intelligence is just becoming richer more intelligent more amazing and so this concept of the universal intelligence is evolving it's not like a fixed thing the evolution of that is the addition of these conscious beings and this instance
42:57us humans that are leaving and so there is no such thing as death we are part of a process of adding to the universal consciousness so what do we do the art of dying is the same as the art of living you can't do it separately if you know how to live then you will know how to die if you live life fully then when the moment of death comes you'll be able to be awake and receive it
43:32and you'll pass on completely differently into a completely different level otherwise if you pass on a sleep you'll come back to repeat parts of your previous life because you've not fully experienced it the trick is to live in the moment do things with awareness be total with what you do and the moment that you are experiencing will be total and complete then you won't have to come back and repeat it
44:02you won't pass on unconsciously the art of dying consciously is the art of living consciously if you live consciously then the moment is complete and there is nothing to come back to nothing to hang on to and nothing to hold on to you and you'll be able to move freely the problem is we live habitually unconsciously it's a result of learning once you've learned something
44:35it goes into your unconscious so you can learn something new for example if you're driving a car when you first learn to drive a car the driving process takes all of your attention your ability to learn new things is temporarily diminished eventually the new learnings move from your conscious to your unconscious mind then you're able to start
45:03learning more things it's a natural process so it's a natural process as you go into life you are conscious you are aware and then your attention is fully engaged and then from that full engagement that's all you can basically learn for that moment it then moves from the conscious mind to the unconscious and now you can learn something new but the potential problem is that you start
45:32to run your life on automatic habitually and you're no longer in the moment then when you're no longer in the moment you begin to store incomplete experiences emotions thoughts you begin to add more to your ego mind your ego mind is fundamentally all these unexperienced experiences I was having a conversation with someone the other day and I mentioned
46:08I was doing a presentation on death and dying and he said he wasn't afraid of dying and I'm sure at the time he was talking to me that's true he had no fear of the idea of dying he felt no apprehension when he thought of his death but what he doesn't understand is that if we imagine this is the spirit part of us and here is the ego part of us it wraps around the spirit
46:42part of us and then the spirit part of us is lost in the ego and it's the strength of your vitality the health of your body that can sustain this ego wrapping around the spirit but what occurs is as you start to approach your death the ego starts to unravel from the physical body because as the vitality of the body diminishes your ability to keep your unconscious suppressed
47:16also diminishes you need energy to keep the unconscious away when the vitality of the body diminishes the unconscious is exposed we call this a breakdown so here is the spirit this unconscious is breaking down going it's letting go and it's a freak out because we have identified with this whole conditioning and then the spirit just sits there completely unseen and particularly if you're
47:50medicated out and you're dealing with a lot of physical pain and you're having to take pain killers or you've learned to avoid things because they're too anxious or too difficult you're completely unprepared you know you're very very vulnerable you know you're most people are emotionally fragile and so once this process of the vitality of the body starts to go they're going to massive
48:22freak out it can also work in the other way you can start to unravel the unconscious around the spirit by building your vitality and you can induce the unconscious to come to the surface and begin to expose the spirit and then if you remain aware during this process you have what we call a breakthrough so by just running your energy down this thing is going to be a freak out
48:57and there are lots of ways to induce a breakthrough if you want to do that because the more you can deal with the ego the easier it will be when the time comes for transitioning to not go into overwhelm and shut down so breathing techniques help certain types of meditation bodywork fasting physical exercise falling in love these are just a number of techniques just a few
49:28techniques but they can induce a breakthrough and advancing the release of the unconscious patterns so they don't have to be just you know you just subjected to them a very good friend of mine recently had a double pie pass operation and as he was lying in the recovery ward he could hear you know other people crying and it wasn't just from the pain of the operation it was also from
49:53old memories he got to talk to them afterwards and they were regrets and sadness and emotions and my friend said that he'd been told by the nursing staff that it was common for people who had experienced hard operations and and life threatening operations to go into depression afterwards this is because the unraveling of the ego is occurring as the body loses its vitality and they
50:20just being significantly overwhelmed by all these issues that have been dealt with and if you haven't prepared yourself for it then you won't be able to remain present at the time of transition when your spirit leaves the body you will go unconscious and then you will have to come back and go into another body and have another goal at it because you didn't get it this time
50:48the Buddhists say the mind you have died with is the mind you will be reborn into it makes sense it's really saying the programming you died with is the programming you still need to deal with and it's your present awareness and your presence that neutralizes the programming so how do we bring more presence into our lives and to bring more presence into your life each act has to be
51:22done less automatically than you've been doing up to now if you're walking don't walk like a robot don't go on walking as if you have always walked don't walk the same way don't do it mechanically bring a little awareness to it slow down take each step in full consciousness it comes through practice my first teacher in Morocco I have had Sufi used to say to us breathe through your nose
51:58it was a way of bringing us into present time it was a way of having more presence one of the best ways to have more presence is slow down and you will have more awareness you can do that with you know every day things like driving just be more there watch it eating you can do it and breathing so my way that I've been taught and I'm still working with is breathing so walking around
52:28breathe through my nose be here in present time not lose myself to an upset and so just to finish up I want to read a quote from one of my from Osho one of the clearest minds on this whole subject to no life is to know there is no death there never has been nobody has ever died and nobody is ever going to die death is impossible in the very nature of things
53:03only life is yes the body disappears because it served its purpose but the consciousness continues the journey and so this whole thing about death is this story of a projection of the ego the belief that some part of me is going to be lost that it will be the end of what I know but that is a truth for people who have spent most of their lives asleep so let's stay
53:43present and aware and this and make this the last time we need to be here going through this human journey and enjoy and feel blessed and what a miracle it is a blessing and a joy to be here and by making this heaven then we won't have to live with some future unconscious can I say the word hell the next webinar is on Tuesday the 13th of October at 7 p.m it's the seventh
54:25and the last presentation in the spiritual series and it's titled enlightenment your ultimate destiny if you think someone would benefit from these presentations you're welcome to invite them to watch you can join the members group for five dollars and watch all the past presentations they're available for watching on the website and tonight's presentation will be uploaded
54:52to the website by tomorrow evening just before we go into question time I would like to thank radion sock-a-law for marketing production and web design and Aaron McFarland for camera sound and lights and to remind you to remind myself breathe through the nose and on to questions hi everyone here we are answering questions and you know hope you enjoyed it and it made
55:38sense the whole idea is saying you know death and dying it's all a projection and a lockdown of the ego but when you're in the middle of it it's sometimes quite hard to comprehend but if the trick is stay in prison time stay here and now and work through everything you possibly can because the whole you live your life or authentically it's your best chance I'll stay in conscious at the time
56:06of transition so I have some questions once from later wow I feel such a sense of peace after that thank you please my pleasure yes it's like it's amazing yes Meredith Wilkes is asking thanks Michael great presentation are you running anymore retreats next year anyway yes I'm going to run heaps of retreats next year and I'll run them in the sunshine coast here at our place we
56:36literally live in paradise I live in this most amazing gorgeous place and we're 200 meters to the beach and it's just beautiful it's beautiful here's my office you can just see the back of the cup and the clinic and we're gonna be running them here it's all about the COVID thing as soon as the the COVID thing is over we're going to run them here and that will be hopefully sometimes in March
57:06but as soon as I've got some sense of predictability when they're going to do it we will definitely run them I want to do some reburthing workshops here highly recommend coming and doing the breathing you can have a holiday you can do a massive breathing thing and it's just fantastic it's like a rejuvenation I think the sunshine coast is one of these bubbles that's so they call it a blue zone
57:32and a blue zone is in the area that has a higher life expectancy than the general population so as far as the sunshine coast this can save the average life expectancy of people on the sunshine coast these 10 years greater than the general population of Australia so you know Australia is something like I think it's 80 something and up here it's not in case something so we're definitely
58:00going to be running workshops up here and the reburthing ones and a variety of other ones so thanks of question Michelle says thank you Michael when does the desire to live a long healthy life crossover to fear of death I find some practices are more death avoiding than life promoting well look to live a long and healthy life is really you know a natural thing you want
58:30to while you're here to be viable and to be strong the fear of death is really getting stuck you've got the stuck on something something in your ego is afraid and it's incomplete so so really it's just a matter of saying you know why am I trying to avoid death what am I scared of so it's not that I'm scared to let go it's just that it's not my time to let go and I
58:56need to be here because I still need more time to work things out if you were a Buddha and your own light and I don't know whatever it was that 38 years of age theoretically he could have left at that point in time he stayed in order for another 42 years to help people if I get to a point and I think you know I'm scared of dying it's because I'm stuck something and but yes I want
59:24to live a long and healthy life well primarily for my family and for myself but just stuck it just means the stuck and you're gonna figure out why am I stuck and believe me if you are do have a theory there don't make it a big deal don't make it a big deal you're doing your best you can and we say don't take the ego you know I'm now learning to not take my personality personally
59:56so yes I've got an issue I'm scared of something and okay I'll do my best to stay healthy and physical and feel positive and while I'm at it I'll try and figure out what I'm stuck on what I'm scared thank you for the question Neil Ainca thanks for the presentation it was very much needed you mentioned that the next presentation was on the 13th of October isn't today the 13th
60:23of October you are right I do apologize the next presentation is on the 27th of October which is in two weeks time and it's going to be held on daylight savings so it's the seven o'clock use-off whales and Victorian time so it's Eastern daylight saving I haven't delivered Brisbane but it's not seven o'clock Brisbane time it's seven o'clock Eastern standard time and our earlier
60:56and it is on the 27th of October and it's all about enlightenment and the process of enlightenment and my enlightenment is important thank you for reminding me Michelle some people close to me are quite fearful okay you know and so you know it's their process they're in the process of working through it so your job is to not make them wrong and not get caught up in their fear and they
61:30they're working through their stuff and they have their process the next time and that that represents a reality for them but it doesn't have to be your reality and then Bobby thank you for this I this is a good quote Kerry Packer famously said there was nothing when he died and was revived what happened to him well you see what happened for Kerry Packer is when we look at the
61:59energetic system of a particular person's body I never met Kerry Packer but the psychic who I'm aware of who met him said that his energetic system was like a pyramid it was like this so he's base chapter his physicality was massive and it filled the entire room that's why he was able to hold and magnetize such a huge amount of physicality to him but when it came to his chapter his crown
62:27checker it was extremely small and reduced the ideal scenario is rather than it be like a pyramid if they like a you know a massive column and the crown checker is huge and the base checker is huge but for Kerry Packer this spiritual component was shut down so even though he went into a near-death experience and his revive he really had no memory of it he went unconscious he went
63:01to sleep it's like someone having a dream and then nothing out to remember it because he's his crown checker was so narrow he couldn't bring back the experience that took place they would have been an experience for him but he wasn't able to retain it and wasn't able to bring it back and wasn't able to remember it so in effect he's even if you want those people he couldn't remember
63:25certain dreams to certainly that dream because there are other dreams that are psychological and emotional and you can remember dreams but when they met physical dreams it's a whole other full name you did get people the opposite of Kerry Packer who have wide crown checkers who were very very very very spiritual and the opposite very narrow base checkers and they're completely
63:47impractical they don't get their physical lives together they can't get their money together they can't get their relationships together and they talk about God God God and they make the physical wrong you get other people who have the other way that the physical is everything and the spiritual is a fantasy they're both missing it's it's there's a reality in both so you know Kerry Packer
64:11an amazing remarkable special man and he brought through a whole lot of things but was very deeply wounded from the relationship with his father and I would say a whole lot of this sensitivity found him had been shut down and when I looked at recent photos of Kerry's son Jamie I can see Jamie is very wounded too and another very remarkable person as well but he's been very much
64:45affected by the pain of his finances as his father and his grandfather so thank you Bobby Allison hi Michael thanks for your presentation how do you stop your egoic mind taking over when you are consciously aware or does this not happen I think you don't try and tank you don't try and stop it you don't try you just watch it the key with this is here's my game playing my mind's going
65:13everything's wheezing wheezing wheezing just watch it don't make it wrong if you can watch it and don't make it wrong it's only amount of time that it will go it's the same with someone who was smoking if someone was smoking in an ideal scenario you say don't smoke but then if you take away the smoking which has a benefit the benefit is it reduces their anxiety but it also has a
65:37great negative in that what it does is that it topsify as the body my thing just shut down so I anyway look it froze for a second but there's a positive in smoking in that reduces anxiety the negative is it topsifies the body long term you don't really want to be smoking because you're putting toxicity into the body and you are also avoiding the issue that the smoking is surprising but in the
66:10short term to take away the smoking before you've worked out the issue is too much so all you say the people is keep smoking but be aware and save yourself each time you smoke one day this will end this one day I'll let this go so what happens is if you're going mine is uh way going mad and it's working or whatever you just say look that is just part of my programming and this is my programming
66:37coming up and that's not me I'm just watching oh yeah that's interesting I'm feeling sick at this moment I don't like it I'm feeling angry I don't like it I'm upset I don't like it but at the end of the day I'm not wrong I'm not bad it is part of the program so don't make yourself wrong just observe it and watch it and this identified it's not me it's not me do that and you take the power out of the
67:03program because to fight the programming gives an energy to be aware of the program and then say it's not me just let's go to avoid the program and pretend there's no program then still gives an energy so the only way the program ultimately let's go is when you just identify with it and you don't make yourself or the program and it's that the next line is as a Buddhist like always thought
67:32I could overcome fear of death but today faced with the thought of my partner undergoing cancer treatment I feel in enormous pressure I cannot be how can I maintain my objectiveness during this period to stay focused you've just got to say love trumps everything and the most important thing here is that I love him and he loves me and he's going through his process and I will stay open harder than loving
68:01and whatever to whatever degree he's able to deal with his process that's okay that's part of his journey in an ideal scenario it would be wonderful even if he you know he survived the cancer and he came out of it and he was healthy he was wonderful ideal scenario the second scenario is okay he gets through the cancer but eventually the cancer gets him and he events eventually passes
68:26but before he passes during that time of transitioning he can disidentify with what the cancer means to him it's not a failure it's not you know all these things about that he hasn't dealt with in his life so to some extent he just needs to be able to come to terms with it as a general rule cancer tends to be a what do call it a solidified emotion it's almost like a disappointment or an anger or a fear
69:05a solidified and then over a period of time it starts to create this physical effect and then the cancer starts to take place so where is this emotion that's become kind of solidified and how can he just surrender to it except do now that's a big ask of someone else or you can do is know that he is wonderful he's okay his spirit can't die you love him he loves you and however
69:42he deals with the cancer he's his journey and the best thing that you can do is not to go into fear around him you're now just making the whole energetic field around him more dense you're making everything all you need to be able to do is you know I love you darling you're wonderful your fabulous and the only thing that matters is the fact that we feel love and excepty messy is without trying
70:10to fix him and just watch wise that an issue for me you know and it's just a pattern thank you for the questions everyone and all the best and the next time the web next webinar is on Tuesday the 27th 7 p.m. Eastern daylight saving time and on the enlightenment experience hope to see you then all the best bye
